6 Face Moisturizers To Get Back The Skin You Were Born In.

I started using moisturizers/lotions since a very young age, but mostly Johnson Baby lotions for my body, not my face. Since I started watching YouTubers do make up tutorials and they use all kinds of moisturizers, and that's when I learnt the importance of using it!

So it goes from Cleanser --- Toner --- Moisturizer --- Primer --- Foundation.

I learnt as I went along and I'm not ashamed to say that I have made many make up and fashion boo boos in my 25 years of life. I have used all sort of brands available in Watsons, from Nivea to Garnier. to Tarte and Clinique, available in Sephora. Hence here are my top 6 moisturizers that I absolutely swear by now. But, of course everyone's skin reacts differently to products, but these are my favourite.

1) Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel (RM53)

Description: The gel smells fresh and has a very light texture to it. Super moisturizing and it isn't sticky on the face or fingers when applying. I use this under make up in the morning but also when I don't feel like wearing make up. Because it's a gel, it feels really nice and cool when applied on the face.

Pros: Super moisturizing and great for day and night
Cons: -
Rating: 5/5 stars
Available: Watsons and Guardian
* Most affordable

2) Darling Snail Cream (RM170)

Description: The cream has a pleasant smell to it and has a heavy, creamy texture. After reading some reviews, I found that this creme was very moisturizing and should be used as a nighttime routine as it can make skin oily in the day and I have tried it and yes I total agree. I only use it on some nights when I feel that my face is super dry.

Pros: Smells great and great for nighttime routine
Cons: Too heavy texture and not suitable for daytime routine. Not suitable to use under make up
Rating: 4/5 stars
Available: The Face Shop

3) Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief (RM174)

Description: It's a clear gel that would be considered lightweight. However it does have quite a strong chemical smell. Product does say it can be used under make up, so I have tried it and it does keep my skin hydrated throughout the day.

Pros: Chemical smell
Cons: Makes face oily throughout the day
Rating: 3/5 stars
Available: Sephora, Clinique stores

4) Drink of H20 Hydrating Boost Moisturizer (RM174)

Description: Fresh smelling and feels a little medicine-ny as. It did feel a little spicy once I applied it on my face. The texture is quite clear and semi-lightweight.
Pros: Very moisturizing and smells good
Cons: No significant effect on my skin and a little pricey
Rating: 3.5/5 stars
Available: Sephora

5) Tarte Maracuja Oil (0.5oz - RM54, 1.7oz - RM179)

Description:  Smells like nuts and is perfect for super dry skin. It absorbs into the skin pretty fast but I don't use it under make up because in Malaysia, it is quite hard to use a oil based moisturizer and then walk out under the hot, humid weather. My face oil + Maracuja oil = Breeding ground for acne. I did read some articles that this oil was also good for hands and nails in general. It comes with a dripper, which is awesome and super hygienic!

Pros: Perfect for winter weather when travelling overseas
Cons: Too oily to use on daily basis in Malaysia
Rating: 4/5 stars
Available: Sephora

6) Clinique Pep-Start Hydroblur Moisturizer (30ml RM38, 50ml RM130)

Description: From the name itself, 'Hydroblur' means it does hydra and also blurs out pores and imperfections. The texture is creamy and more like a primer rather than moisturizer. It does have some pore blurring ingredients.

Pros: Helps to blur pores
Cons: Smells chemical-ish, a little oily under make up
Rating: 3.5/5 stars
Available: Sephora, Clique stores, Johor Premium Outlets
